Britains got talent star Susan Boyle is reported to have generated over £20million of equivalent advertising value through the release of her audition on youtube.

With over 100 million views on youtube the broadcaster missed out on the opportunity of inserting advertising within the video clip as offered by youtube which is believed could have generated in excess of £1,000,000 in a week for the lucky person who released it.

Everybody with a business head on their shoulders has said since the first days of Facebook – where’s the revenue? For quite a while nobody could understand just how Facebook was going to make any money from its rapidly growing social networking site.

Eventually we saw the rise of their advertising with skyscraper banners and little text based adverts making the company many millions of dollars in revenue. We also all got a virtual bikini and flowers bought for us by friends which again cost the users money generating further revenue to the company.

On an annual basis a company called Webcredible performs an accessibility test on the top 20 airline and travel agent websites to see how they perform.

This year then general efforts by these companies have improved with the average score rising from 51.5% to 56.7% which shows companies identifying the importance of accessibility.

Jeeves not getting enough from his state pension!

Most of the world is familiar with the legend which is Jeeves – the man with all the answers!

Ask.com have announced that this week the will be bring Jeeves back from retirement to star on their website once again some three years after retiring.

Jeeves has had a bit of a makeover including the addition of a third dimension and also even wearing a suit styled by Savile Row tailors Gieves & Hawkes.

One of the most widely used tools on the internet is Google’s free analytics package, obviously named Google Analytics.

A lot of people don’t realise that Google actually changed its code that you need to track your website back in 2007 and said that they would only support it for 12-24 months. With that in mind one would assume that if you are running on your old code that your website could be about to stop being tracked.

According to JP Morgan the worlds ad spend is set to drop by 6% overall with some companies experiencing up to 9% in Spain and the US.

According to the survey the UK is set to drop by 7%, Germany and Italy 6.5% and France 8.6%.

Google Dodges £100millions’s in UK Tax?

Google was in the Sunday Times where they were looking on at how they manage to dodge £100million’s each year by charging customers through their Irish subsiduary as opposed to the UK.

Following an independant accounts survey commisioned by the Times (Richard Murphy) they discovered that in 2007 Google paid a mere £600,000 in UK taxes despite producing revenue of £1.25bn!

Twitter Account Sells – Another revenue stream?!

News this week is that whilst the likes of Google and Facebook look to acquire the massively growing microblogging site Twitter a young self-described ‘Technologist, Photographer, Raconteur’ who’s account is @cnnbrk, has managed to sell his account to CNN.

Whilst the details of how much it went for are unpublished the user had built himself up to be the most followed person on the site with over 950,000 followers.

Pirate Bay Are Finished! Or are they?

A lot of people, particularly in the music and film industry have been awaiting the verdict from the trial on Pirate Bay which provides the public with the ability to download copyright infringment software, music and videos.

The Pirate Bay Four were guilty of ‘severe‘ copyright infringements according to the courts and then were sentenced with 1 year prison time each and a fine of $905,000.

This is however now under appeal and they have decided to leave the website running until forced to shutdown.

A moral victory for the music and film industry but one that will likely have little impact.
