SEO 80/20 Rule Still Good!

Google algorithms are not robots, y’know! Fashioned in the image of their human creators, they have constantly evolved to now become fabulous, sophisticated life forms designed to seek out and record signs of ‘quality’ website life rather than just plotting dull, repetitive keywords every business wants to bid upon.

Scroll On! Standing Out From The Fold.

Above and below the fold – the debate is endless! Will your visitor bother to scroll a centimetre or two or not bother? Making sure that most visitors will not miss seeing vital site content is crucial and needs some website design savvy!

We are all aware of the two-stage process : online marketing aims to bring visitors to your site, and website accessibility, to provide the user with the best possible experience. Government Issues First Asbo Anti-Social Media Behaviour Order!

With just weeks away from the General Election and in an extraordinary departure from the slow moving wheels of law reform, a Home Office department responsible for IT Development has this morning circulated a memorandum to the Home Affairs Select Committee stating that the first Asbo for Anti-Social Media Behaviour Order has been issued to a number of internal employees.

Secret monitoring of employee online behaviour has revealed that an excessive amount of work hours are spent on social networking sites such as Facebook and sending message updates via Twitter.

Government ministers had privately expressed serious concern over issues of national security and employee contract confidentiality being breached through the unregulated use of social media content by their staff daily uploading blogs and sending videos.

As a result, internal department Webmasters had noted analytics were recording Government sites receiving countless millions of hits and warned of server capacity meltdown.

The asbos were ordered to be issued this morning to over 150 staff who will be suspended from work for a period of 24 hours, on a first offence basis. April 1st could prove to be a landmark day.

Latest figures report more consumers have migrated online in the last twelve months with social networking fuelling a fifth of usage and driving transformation of eCommerce opportunity business models.

Searching and buying online – we’re all doing more of it! It’s as if recession had never happened! Figures just released from the UK Online Measurement Company (UKOM) and Nielsen, show that the number of UK active online users has grown from 35.5 million in February 2009 to 39.7 million in February 2010 – an increase of 4.4 million active internet users in just 12 months!

The increasing use of internet enabled mobiles – smartphones – for instant, easy website accessibility on the move has to be a decisive factor, notwithstanding exclusive online product availability and pricing.

In addition, as 92% of the UK online population now has broadband with 63% enjoying speeds of over 2MB, user expectation of the ‘digital’ experience is higher than ever. As faster broadband drives video advertising, the demand is for increasingly dynamic video and rich media.
