Ad spend on the down… or is it?

According to JP Morgan the worlds ad spend is set to drop by 6% overall with some companies experiencing up to 9% in Spain and the US.

According to the survey the UK is set to drop by 7%, Germany and Italy 6.5% and France 8.6%.

This is supposed to be as a result of the weekening world economy and expected to continue falling over the next few years.

This comes at the same time that the BBC annouce ad spend cuts of almost 25% in an attempt to save over £400 million in the next 3 years.

However, recent announcement we covered with Google claims that the pay per click online revenue is up a massive 17% in Q1 for 2009 – quite a different story and perhaps once again illustrates the distinct shift from traditional print advertising to online marketing efforts.
