Google robots mission to save Earth!

The way Google spiders search to find and rank your website is now being used to protect life on earth from extinction!

Professional website design and development agencies have always been at pains to impress upon their clients just how clever and sophisticated search engines have rapidly become, ever refining their methods of how and why they might choose to visit your website, recognise genuine, interesting informative content and index your importance by rank, accordingly.

It is the very real and practical reason why a fully search engine optimised website design is essential to how effective your online presence is in attracting customer word search traffic.

Latest news from the BBC science and environment desk is that researchers are claiming that Google’s algorithm for ranking web pages can be adapted to determine which species are critical for sustaining the earth’s ecosystems. In other words, ‘PageRank’ can be applied to the study of ‘food webs’, i.e. the complex networks of who eats whom in an ecosystem.

An adapted version of ‘PageRank’ is thought could be an efficient method of working out which extinctions would lead to ecosystem collapse as a result of a single extinction rapidly multiplying into the loss of seemingly unrelated species. The number of combinations exceeds the number of atoms in the universe!

The ‘PageRank’ algorithm registers a web page as important if other important pages point to it. Similarly, a species is important if it points to other important species. The recycling of dead organisms back into the food web via a ‘detritus pool’ was inserted into the system order to make it applicable to the algorithm.

The method was tested against published food webs, using it to rank species according to the damage they would cause if they were removed from the ecosystem. It was found that ‘PageRank’ gave them exactly the same solution as much more complicated algorithms found in computational biology.

The analogy is clear and simple – to preserve the extinction of your business and to maintain loyal ‘cyclical’ customers, you must ensure that the Google algorithms know where you are, come and see you daily, recognise your value and deliver your site first to prospective customers on Google’s first pages. Without a fully researched SEO website your online marketing will not sustain your economic eco system!
